The field day will include options for you to enjoy the park, sketch and paint outdoors, enjoy guided tours of the Weir House and Studios, time to hike, and explore the park’s stunning gardens and trails, become a Junior Park Ranger by completing a scavenger hunt, and even participate in a Forest Bathing Wellness Walk. There is something for everyone at Weir Farm National Historic Site!
Visit the home and studio of America’s most beloved Impressionist J. Alden Weir, and walk in the footsteps of a world-class artist. Set against a rural Connecticut landscape painted by thousands of artists from 1882 to present, Weir Farm is a National legacy of American Impressionism and the creative spirit. As part of the park’s Healthy People program at Weir Farm National Park Historic Site is offering a wellness walk by Certified Forest Therapy Guide Jennifer Salkin as an option for the Field Day. Shinrin Yoku, also called Forest Bathing, is a way to experience the natural world with increased attention to one’s sense perceptions, and has many benefits to include stress reduction, improve immune function, lowers blood pressure, increase mood, increase focus, and improve sleep. Join Jennifer and us for this wonderful Field Day!
